Whether written under my byline, or ghost-written for a client, I have written numerous articles on a vast array of subjects. These articles have appeared in newspapers, magazines, newsletters (internal and external) and online publications.
My specialty is making any subject matter interesting. Whether it is a personality profile, technical material or medical procedure, I write copy that engages the reader. Because the copy is engaging, readers are more likely to remember what they read and to feel a connection to the subject matter - whether that subject matter is a product, service or person.
Here, I ghost-wrote an article for the President and COO of the Options Clearing Corporation for an industry magazine that is read by very high-level financial executives. The topic of the article was risk-based margin methodology, which is a highly complex subject matter that is not easily understood by even the most seasoned financial insiders.
For this article, I interviewed the president, conducted my own research on risk-based margin methodology, wrote the article and then worked with the publication on edits and placement. The result is a clear, concise and memorable article that was extremely well-received by the publication’s readership.
Many large companies use profiles of interesting employees in their internal newsletters as a way to educate readers on people or departments that may not be familiar to all. They are also used to introduce a new employee, or to discuss a new product or service by way of interviewing the person or persons responsible.
As a Communications Administrator for Alltel Corporation, I wrote an article that portrayed one of the company’s private pilots. This article was meant to not only acquaint Alltel’s thousands of employees with the individual pilot, but was also designed to explain the reasons why the company had private planes and pilots.
